Byron Thomas 6th Dan

It was great sadness we heard of the passing of Byron Thomas Sensei, a student of Aikido for many a long year, and a friend of all he practiced with.

Bryon brought enjoyment to the Dojo with his love for practice and over the years never failed to encourage beginners and seniors in their practice!

As in all Martial arts the Byrons of our world are the most important part of our organisations.

Byron was a solid student of Aikido and member of the BAF, who, even as ill health started to take it’s toll, his heart was still in the Dojo.

Byron was held with respect by his own students over the many years he taught when he had his own Dojo!
But also by those of us who practiced with him, and importantly by visiting Shihan

Also those of us old enough will remember the Summer School evenings when Byron, Ivor and Graham, along with Ken Cottier Sensei when he was there, would treat us to their voices in harmony.

We have lost a gentleman, and a character, and friend to many in the Aikido world.

Most importantly Bryon’s family have lost a pillar of their family, but he leaves behind a family he was very proud of.

We offer all his family our Deepest Condolences.

May you Rest in Peace Byron, you will always be in our thoughts!
